Course Description
Technical Theatre is a course in which the students learn the necessary skills to produce a theatrical production. They will have “hands-on” experience in regards to the backstage side of theatre. Students will be building scenery, sewing costumes and wiring both lights and sound for the production of a show.
 
Students can expect to learn the following objectives:
• Program and operate both sound equipment and lighting equipment.
• Hang and focus theatrical lighting.
• Build various scenery (walls, stairs, windows, etc)
• Safely use power tools such as table-saws, drills, miter-saws, etc
• Paint scenery in various styles used in Theatre.
• Break down a script for use in running a theatrical production.
• Create stage combating scenes
• Sew costumes
• Apply theatrical makeup
• Create and/or find props necessary in a production.
